Victim support is more essential than ever!

We carry out our mission as a legal non-profit association under private law. We are subsidized by the Canton to carry out our mission, but it does not cover all our activities.

Private donations are therefore essential to adequately assist all those who call upon us. With their help, we can purchase useful material for consultations, enhance the resources necessary to respond to new daily requests, or develop new modalities of care and assistance in favor of our beneficiaries.

We keep our donors regularly informed of our actions, regardless of the amount of their donation.

Even small amounts make a difference.

Thank you for your support!

“Last year I was brutally mugged and robbed by strangers on my way home from a party with friends. I had to go to the hospital and the police put me in touch with the LAVI Center, which was very supportive and financed my legal fees; in fact, I was able to identify the perpetrators and the trial will begin in coming days. I am frightened but I am accompanied by the Center’s counselor and my lawyer, and it helps me a lot!”

“In the fall of 2019, I finally decided to leave my husband. He had been abusing me for so long but I always hoped that the situation would improve. When he almost killed me by strangling me in front of the children, I finally dared to talk about it and a neighbor referred me to the LAVI Center, that provided me with emergency shelter and helped me file a complaint.”

Both of these persons are victims under the LAVI, the Federal Law on Assistance to Victims of Crime. The LAVI Center provided them with support, advice and benefits, both as an emergency aid and in the longer term.

In Geneva, the LAVI Center welcomes every year more than 2’500 people who have suffered a direct attack on their physical, psychological or sexual integrity as a result of a criminal offence.
